I dont know if any of you have been following our site or not, or the restoration of an electric storage battery locomotive and some mine cars. but last night we got it running again for the first time in over 50 years that it sat half burried in a culm bank. john Fauzio, the mechanic from the #9 mine tour came up and helped out. after driving one of their motors i knew we had to make ours run. so last night we hooked it up to a 24 volt aircraft battery and away it went. next week we are getting a few hundred feet of mine rail and will have that down soon, so we can really let her go. so as far as i know, we have the only running mine motor in the northern field. will have updated pics on the site soon

thats my dads, he takes it out a few times a year. all done up inside. pretty nice. 1948. we like old stuff.

Nice little motor. These things are amazingly tough. A friend o' mine dug an Atlas trammer out of a caved-in mine, no idea how long it'd been there, but a loong time. Hauled it home in a 1/2 ton truck (said the front wheels only touched the ground when he hit a bump). It was a pile of rust, but the first thing he did was hook it to his welder leads to see if it would run. The throttle had been left open and the dang thing took off across the shop floor, put a heckuva dent in the door. The things you see when ya don't have a camcorder...........
