Pictures taken (and posted on other lists) in the last few days show the locomoitve masked for the imitation aluminum band. So unless NS is changing their paint scheme it sure looks like it will be green again.

This is evidently being done as part of a local celebration of the 50th anniversary open house of the Norfolk Southern's DeButts Yard on Saturday. TVRM 610 will be on display along with NCTM ex-SOU E8A 6900.

According to Mr. Bob Ralph, the 4610 will emerge from the DeButts Yard Paint Shop in the same color scheme in which it entered. It is only receiving a "full touch-up" since no more diesels are painted in Chattanooga.

While the N&W/SOU/NS are not favorites of mine, its nice to hear that 4610 will remain in that beautiful paint scheme. Enjoyed visiting TVRM and Spencer in 2002, and hope to come back soon.

There may be some bad news here. I was over at the yard at lunch today and they were still waiting on the green paint to arrive. If it does not arrive today then it will emerge from the paint shop in black not green (but still in a Southern paint scheme, not NS).

The green paint did arrive. But it isn't what they wanted but they are going to use it anyway.

As an aside, during the clean-up of the area, several bridge sections were "discovered" (kinda like Columbus discovering America) buried under a few decades of vegetation in the old Citico Yard. It turns out that some of these bridge sections came from the original main line that ran between our Missionary Ridge Tunnel and the Citico Yard. These are a vital find in returning that section of the railroad to service (and making it easier and safer for us to get to the Chattanooga Choo Choo). A contractor has already been secured to move the pieces to a location on TVRM property tomorrow (Friday).

I have also asked where the turntable pits used to be. No telling what is buried there.
