Good Afternoon

Good news in the electric traction department... The Electric City Trolley extension to Montage Mountain will officially open with a 12 Noon run on May 28th 2004. The 10 mile round trip with its curved trestle, mile long tunnel and at speed running will surely prove to be one of the most exciting and memorable of its type in existance.

The Electric City Trolley runs with frequent departures 5 days per week all season long. Its a fun ride and economical for the whole family too. Aside from the mile long steamtown shuttles, it will also be the only excursion leaving Scranton most days this summer.

I followed a few of the test runs and have some photographs that I'll hopefully put up when I update my site (smirk...) this weekend.

I know they've made progress on it, but it hasn't hit the road yet... Perhaps Phil can add more when he gets the chance.....

This is a fantastic route, with the heritage of 4 railroad's tracks in use. (DL&W, EL, L&WV and ERIE) Don't judge the trip by its destination, as the Visitor Center in Moosic is about 20 feet higher than the track with more work needed to beautify the stop. The mess of tracks in "little Virginia", along with the marshlands with wild duck habitat make the ride a thrill for railfans and nature lovers. Take a trip!

Thanks. 80's almost done but we need to make room in the operating barn and do some final mechanical work. Except the DL's doing well and with old Alcos that means one of them always needs an adjustment here or there...

Out of curiosity, what have you had to do to the 80? Have you fixed the collision damage from when she got nailed by Wilmington #120? I ran the 76 and 80 at Penn's Landing during 1992 and 1993.

Another question -- what else from the ex-BVTA collection has been moved to Scranton, and what else (if anything) is scheduled to eventually be put back into service?

80 was not involved in the collision with 120; that was 26. 26 was later involved in a fire in Philadelphia and needs to be totally rebuilt.

Car 120 is currently being repaired/restored in Buckingham.

Out current restoration priorities are the two Scranton cars: 1903 Brill DT closed 324 and 1929 Osgood-Bradley Electromobile 505.
