For those who are curious about these kind of things, Car No. 68, the "Hello Dolly" rolled out of the car shop today.

She will debut on TT2, the train that departs on the half-hour from E. Strasburg, tomorrow. Unfortunately, all of our digital photographers were otherwise occupied and I was too busy shifting and whatnot, so no photo for now. We'll try to get one posted later.

Drop by for a ride. I think you'll agree that she looks sharp.

I saw the "Dolly" today after work and it looks absolutely superb! The new and much improved car has the same classic observation platform end but with new reversible wooden seats, standard wide open square "picture" windows matching the other open-air cars (the tall floor-to-ceiling windows are history), and a fresh red paint scheme with conservative yellow lettering and number (the mustard yellow is gone). The days of "ketchup and mustard" passing through the Pequea Valley countryside are now a thing of the past. The passenger consist is now a matching standard uniform red and it looks first-class.

Within the last few weeks, the Cagney ride has been extended across the shop crossing, along the backshop lead, across a wooden trestle and near the end of the backshop it turns on a wye atop a fill, which is nearing completion. A new turntable is also being installed at the mall loading platform, with two leads. It promises to be a very classy and much extended live steam ride for this summer's visitors to enjoy.

Also new to the programming lineup are self-guided tours of J-Tower (for a nominal fee), the first time this structure has ever been opened to the general public on a regular basis. It offers a great vantage point on the top floor to view Strasburg trains arriving and departing.

Hats off to the Strasburg gang for yet another first-class offering. Always something new and exciting on the Strasburg, and it is certainly worth a visit to check out.

Half-hour train? So SRC is now running 2 trains a day I thought didn't start until late June, anyway if you guys are I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say the motive power on the Half-hour is going to be...31 lets say? Just curious.

When I first walked past this car yesterday I nearly missed it until I saw the name. A complete transformation is an understatement. I originally thought that the yellow would look better but seeing the final product I can say that Dolly looks even better than she did before.
