Post subject: 261 and - or 2816 in the Chicago or Milwaukee area

Greetings to all.
Was wondering if anyone has any specifics regarding Milw 261 and/or CPR 2816 activities in or around the Chicago, Milwaukee, Southern Wisconsin area over the next couple of weeks ?

Any help is appreciated, it appears that the Milw 261 site is having some problems.

Thanks in advance
John

I was just in the 261 site and it was working just like usual.
261 will go to Milwaukee on June 20. It will lay over for a day or two and then go to Chicago. After Chicago it will head west to a bunch of towns on the river. From there it will run some out and back excursions and then head north in stages toward the Twin cities again.
During this time it will not have any contact with the 2816, which will have long since arrived in the Twin Cities.
The two engines will pull a double header from St. Paul to LeCrescent and back on July 2.
That's all I can tell you at this time. Someone else might be able to offer more.
If you go to the 261 site and go into the "buy tickets" you can read the departure dates and destinations for each trip.

Well for one day at least, We test fired the 261 on Monday and the airport registered a record high of 97 degrees at the airport that afternoon. A few pounds of water weight was sweated off in the cab.
