headlight reflector resilvering

Can someone on the list recommend a business that will resilver a 14 inch glass headlight reflector? I need the name of a place where someone has actually had one done.

Years ago my employer had a steam locomotive headlight reflector resilvered by Rishworth Glass, 24 Clarence Street # 103, Ottawa, Ontario, K1N 5P3, Canada ,phone (613)565-6443.

They likely sent it out but the work was first rate. He never mentioned what he paid for the job.

Find any company specializing in the renovation/historic preservation of buildings. I have known of several (rather large) mirrors recieving silver restoration in the past 2 years.

While UP 618 was recently down for a suspension rebuild, the CMO had me do some refurbishing on the headlights and numberboards. This involved stripping and repainting interior and exterior.

When I brought up the subject of getting the reflectors resilvered, he pointed out that it would be best to leave them as they were--current silvering techniques cannot (according to him) replicate accurately the warm golden color of the original silvering.

So if you do find someone to do the resilvering and that can replicate the "golden glow" (I know it's on a Pyle National...) let me know.

The gold color of the "Golden Glow" head light is actually in the glass not the reflector. The color comes from one of the rare earths. The reflector is regular silver mirroring.
