Brazil PAs cut up?

I've noted on a couple of boards that the (3?) Alco PA units in Brazil have been cut up, after someone in the US tried to buy them. Anyone know more?

From What I have heard, they most likely have been cut up for scrap, as I was just told, the soon to be owners, here in the US, recently recived their payments back for the amount paid and shipping costs, with a letter saying the equipment has been scrapped.

No, there are still 2 in Mexico..
there were 7 surviving Pa's total.
the 3 Brazil units,
and the 4 Santa Fe/D&H units.
2 of the D&H units are back in the US.
one being restored to NKP colors and restored to operating condition.
One supposidely is going to be restored to its original Santa Fe colors, and go on display at the Smithsonian.
and the other 2 D&H PAs remain in Mexico, not-operating but in good cosmetic condition and on public display..

so if the the PAs in Brasil are in fact all scrapped, that leaves 4 PAs in existance..
the Santa Fe/D&H quartet.

There is one former D&H PA in Mexico on display and I think there are two. I belive that all former D&H PAs are still around. The two in the US were the scraps of what was left over when the Mexicans put together their two.

Thanks very much for the link! I was just going to ask about Doyle McCormack's PA. I had read about his project and at the time everything was stored outside in bad shape. It looks like its coming along quite well and it is indoors. Any word on what happened to the one in Daylight colors?

Was this really a NKP PA? If not, it can't be "restored" as such. Rather, it can be interpreted as such.

Am I the only one who's getting tired and annoyed by so-called museums passing off "restored" motive power and other exhibits when they're really fakes.

Good point from a museum terminology point of view.

However, it is worth noting that in the precise case in question, Doyle is not a so-called museum or a public entity of any kind--he's the individual private owner of that PA. His ex-D&H nee-Santa Fe PA is not an exhibit and it's not in a museum.

Remember, If it were not for Mr. McCormick and others, we would not ever have a chance to see a PA run in the US ever again. I think that it is kind of special to have at least one running don't you?

That Ski Train PB is a sheel, with 2-axle EMD trucks. It was convereted a power car years ago.

Nothing beyond Doyle's skills to return to service. Just lots and lots of time and money would be needed.
