I was At Travel Town, just aboat a year ago. The new train shed looks good, but there were no cars in it yet.

And there was not a single letter on any of the engines or cars. seems that can paint but not letter anything. Unless you know in advance, what is in the collection, a visitor is very last.

But inside is better!

A year ago, the Pavilion wasn't done. Don't even think the roof was all on then. The official dedication was on Dec of 03, but it didn't get turned over to the museum until a few months later.

We are in the process of moving pieces in slowly, and should finish moving the Hawaiian NG equipment this weekend. This particular move required a lot of shoo fly track. The completion of this move is a prerequisite to moving everything else to their "final" positions.

I think a lot more of the equipment is lettered now. That repainting effort was a City project in response to a recent Lead Paint scare, and the lettering was getting finished as the painters were available. Everything should also have signs now telling more about the equipment.

Mea Culpa,

I just got back from Travel Town, and I took a few minutes to look around. Amazing how much you don't notice or pay attention to when you're there all the time.

I guess I mis-spoke about the lettering. Most of the equipment still isn't lettered. Several of the significant items HAVE been relettered (STE#1), but most have not. I guess I should pay attention to more things beyond my own projects once and a while. :-)
