From the same website, another panorama of the roundhouse and diesel shop of the Duluth, Missabe & Iron Range at Proctor, Minnesota. Recent news from new owner Canadian National is that this facility will stay open for now.

And a photo of Thunder Lake Lumber Company 2-8-0 No. 5 on display at Rhinelander, Wisconsin. This is the narrow gauge engine that migrated to Mexico after TLLC quit just before WWII, operating there into the 1970s. When it returned, a three way trade was arranged which returned it to Wisconsin and an original DSP&P 2-8-0 back to Colorado from Rhinelander.

Dark photo of Missabe Road 2-8-8-4 No. 229, plus the depot at Two Harbors, Minnesota. Ancient Duluth & Iron Range 2-6-0 No. 3 is behind the big Yellowstone, under the shelter. Two-track arrangement puts posts in the center, with unobstructed viewing on the outside.

I can't tell very well from the pix, but are those Miller-Hook Cupolers? Very rare if that's what they are.

Needs paint, but looks pretty complete (note the intact bell and headlight) given that it's sitting out in the open unfenced.

Inquiring minds want to know exactly where this electric locomotive is located.

And thanks for posting all these photos!

The coach in that shot is the last Port Huron & Northwestern/ F&PM narrow gauge coach in existence. Would look mighty nice behing the D.B. Harrington, which once hauled her....

Most likely they are hook couplers. Have shots of PH&NW coaches which had them. I believe (Fritz, got your P.M. Passenger Car book handy?) it was in the 100 series coaches, which would make it circa 1880 construction date.

How did it end up in Wisconsin? How was it used over the years? It seems like it really should be kept indoors.
