Hi,

As far as building steamers, Glover got out of the business in 1930 due to not being able to buy boilers (they never had the ability to manufacture boilers themselves). The turned down an offer in 1946 for 25 steamers since they no longer had the expertise for locomotive construction. (see page 47 of Glover Steam Locomotives - Hillman).

A friend of mine maintained the Atlanta Zoo Train (16" gauge) for many years. He talked with them in the 1960's and the Glovers were not interested in building anything railroad. Their main product line is/was oil pipes and valves.

I think you may have heard the rumor started by the Trains Magazine article entitled something like Do you want to buy a new locomotive?

I believe it was actually titled "MOGULS of MARRIETTA" Now if I can just get that decade of Trains back from my granddaughter we can confirm this.

Thank you both for the update.
