Does anyone know what equipment is to be used in the Indiana History train?

History hits the rails this October when the Indiana Historical Society,
in a unique collaboration with The Indiana Rail Road Company, Old
National, and the Lilly Endowment Inc., launches the inaugural run of
the Indiana History Train.

The train, consisting of three 65-foot renovated Amtrak freight cars,
features a free traveling exhibition, "The Faces of Lincoln," designed
by Weintraut and Associates of Indianapolis, a new documentary video
about Lincoln's life in Indiana, and other related activities. At
temporary "depots" set up at each venue, visitors may browse sponsor
booths, have their photo taken with a Lincoln impersonator, purchase
Lincoln-related items, and enjoy hands-on activities.

Once on board, visitors start the experience with an orientation about
early photography and America's love of Lincoln. The train remains
stationary while visitors learn about the many ways Lincoln's image was
created and manipulated, during and after his lifetime. The exhibit
features dozens of images from the Indiana Historical Society's Lincoln
collections, purchased in January 2003.

In the free educational tent outside the train, photographs from the
society's Lincoln collections will allow visitors to compare and
contrast photos from different eras to discover historical clues.
Participants will also have the opportunity to explore Lincoln images
and then vote for their favorite. The 16th president's life will be
reviewed with a hands-on timeline. Students visiting the train will have
the opportunity to design a campaign posters or buttons and explore
graphics from 19th century and present-day campaign posters.

The Indiana History Train is a five-year commitment on behalf of the
Indiana Historical Society and The Indiana Rail Road Company. During
that time, the train will alternate traveling north and south throughout
the state.

The train is free and open to the public. Group reservations are
available by calling (800) 447-1830. Limited space is available.

These are former Amtrak 1400 series Material Handling Cars. They are noted for re-using trucks cast in the 1950's for Railway Express Co. refrigerator cars. This is a great adaption of these cars - it would be nice to see what the renovations cost.

Photos of the renovations are available via the link below
