I'll be there. They're still planning to run both engines aren't they?

Yes, #98 & #58 are scheduled to run both days, 10/16 & 10/17. Seth

Any thoughts on good photo spots besides the station?

Regrettably, the W&W suffers from being a steam operation with the steamers always pointed north--meaning the loco is almost constantly backlit in strong sun. And when it's not in strong sun, it's likely in a "tunnel of trees".

The best photo locations, light-wise for a normally-oriented W&W train, are back at the Marshallton Shops in the afternoon. There are other locations "properly" oriented for afternoon running, but they're all north/west of Ashland, which probably won't see W&W trains again until next fall at the earliest.

Hello Seth

Myself and a freind from the M&H RR will be there, looking forward to meeting some more RYPN'ers in person and adding to my railroad souvenier collection while I'm at it.

Last time I rode the train was well over a decade ago. Is the enginehouse area accessable for photographs of the engine's in the am?

I've always been impressed with the HRCV's ability to "bounce back" after adversity and I wish them the best for their big show this weekend.

I've always liked the shot of the train crossing the first trestle out of the station over by the mill. There are plenty of angles where you can hide the sun behind the trees.

In the current running scenario, you can also get a nice shot of the train as it crosses route 62 after leaving the interchange with CSX.

Another thing to note is that the light gets better later in the day, so ride an early trip and chase the later trip(s).

So you could catch the 2 trains together at the station, and if they stop there for a minute or 2, you could scurry over to the trestle and catch the westbound one there.
