Any word on who the winning bidders were on the 35 restoration project?
Thanks

There are two LIRR G5s steam locomotives in preservation. The 35 is store in parts, but well taken care of, at Oyster Bay rail road terminal. THe one up for rebuild bids is LIRR #39, currently at the RRMof LI. Eventually both locomotives are going to be operated, assuming plans go through. Incidently, it was 49 years ago this past week that #35 made the last steam run on LI.
Since the RRMof Pa has no intent of operating any of its collection, the 35 and 39 are the kinds of projects that Pennsy steam fans should get behind. You could very likely see a G5s/K4s doubleheader some day. Fans need to support either the Friends of 35 or RRMof LI to get Belpaire steam running once more. And by the way, these locos both have a place to run once finished.
