Chicago RR Fair photos

Page backwards and forwards to see them all. The 4-4-2 below, incidently, was cut up for scrap after the fair, with only the wheels and rods going to the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago.

Really fascinating photos! Has anyone ever tried to come up with a list of where everything at the Railroad Fair ended up? I know a few that stayed local: the Museum of Science & Industry has the Chicago horsecar and cable car, NYC 999, and - as mentioned - the remains of the C&EI Atlantic; the C&NW "Pioneer" is at the Chicago Historical Society sans tender (that coach, which was a replica, was scrapped within the past year I believe); CB&Q 637 and IC 201 are at the Illinois Railway Museum; and IIRC the CRI&P passenger car is (or was until recently) at Kettle Moraine.

Are those the original UP #119 and the CP Jupiter? And was the the original PRR 7002?

The original Golden Spike engines were scrapped around the turn of the century. I'd have to go back through the photos again, but I think the 119 was CB&Q's ceremonial 4-4-0 "35" and the Jupiter was one of the V&T 4-4-0s, though not sure if the 11, 12, or 22.

"7002" at the fair is the same "7002" to be seen today at the RRMPA.

The "Jupiter" was played by the V&T #12 "Genoa", and was still painted in those colors in the 70s. Operated when first arriving in Old Sacramento in both the "Jupiter" colors (for the 100th anniversary in 1969, and I believe at Promontory Summit until 1979. "Inyo" was the 119 I believe?), then re-lettered, then rebuilt back to V&T appearance and put on display inside.

CB&Q #35 did play the #119 as mentioned.

The two original engines have interesting stories...

The "Jupiter" was sold to the Gila Valley Globe & Northern in Arizona, after a stint on the Southern Pacific post-takeover in 1885.

The 119 gained a diamond stack, when the Jupiter was modernized and given a straight stack. Picture here http://www.tns.net/~path/GS119-343.jpg

Scrapped in 1903 around the same time.

There's a page somewhere talking about the disposition of both locomotives after the famous meet-up on May 10th, 1869; I haven't been able to find it again.
