Post subject: Where can I find quality railroad hats/garments?
PostPosted: Sun Mar 25, 2001 6:43 pm

I remember years ago that Oshkosh Mfg. made some quality denim railroad/construction oriented clothing. Nowadays they are concentrating on childrens clothes. I'm sure the kids stuff must be VERY tough to stand up to the torture kids can put on clothes.
Anyway, I know a product of quality when I see one, but haven't seen much in the way of railroad type "goodies" besides my ever-trusty "Dickies" overalls.
I'm not trying to place one brand over another here, but I'm searching for some good rugged railroad clothes. Blue and white stripe is preferred.
Also, What about our hats? I can't take anymore of those cheap "one size fits all" engineer hats with the "stretchie band" that they sell in the gift shop. Who sells the good Engineer Hats?

Good question Brian, I have been purchasing some
good items from a company in Colorado. The "Rolling Stock Supply" outfit had some nice
hats & clothing, ---BUT--- they don't seem to exist anymore. Does anyone out there know if they
still are in business..... We are always looking for the proper articles of clothing/hats for our
engine crews to wear here also.......
Hope someone can lead us all to a good supplier.
Thanks
Tim

a similar thread topic came up at the end of January--a number of recommendations were made and suppliers suggested--i won't try to list them all here. use the search feature using keyword(s) overall, overalls.

I feel your pain... I found my engineer's jacket at wearguard. It's item #334, blanketed demin chore jacket. It may be seasonal, but it is there today. They offer monogramming and logo embroidery services. A friend of mine got his jacket from JCPenny Big Mac line maybe last year. I went to look for it this past Fall and nothing!!

As far as hats go, there is a place northwest of Bangor,Maine, if memory serves, that makes sized hats to order where mine came from. I'll look for that info later today and post it if I can find it.

I was able to find bib overalls at the Osh Kosh outlet store in Westbrook,CT last November. I went by one last weekend in Freeport, Maine but didn't go in to check the selection. The previous time there in Westbrook, there wasn't any to be found. I think they rotate things in and out for adults, don't hold your breath. I think Dickies has them anyway.
