I've been asked to help someone trying to properly equip a 1920 era heavyweight diner with its proper kitchen equipment. We have a C&O diner of this era at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis and it has a Stearnes stove. Older Car Builders Dictionaries had illustrations of stoves built by the Stearnes Steel Stove Co of Chicago up to about 1919. Does anyone have a catalog for this firm? And does anyone have an old stove built by them that is in need of a new home, possibly out of a diner that was updated or in one scheduled to be updated or stripped? Be careful, those things are full of powdered asbestos! But they work very well. Nothing like 'em.
