Ran across this site showing some F units on the Gettysburg & Northern, apparently participating in rhoto runs for enthusiasts. What is the origin of these units? What is the Gettysburg & Northern? Is this the former Octoraro RR?

And if you scroll down here on the same website, you'll find a short video clip of Middletown & Hummelstown's ex-CN 2-6-0.

G&N is the old Reading RR Gettysburg branch, runing from gettyburg north to Mt. Holly Springs. No relation to the Octorario line.

It looks like they are probably former CN units based on this page. They may also have a B-Unit.

If you want to see steam along the mighty swatara creek, this is your chance. There no chance of seeing 91 run next year due to critical staff departures. It may find a new home, who knows. The brief flight of the phoenix is over for now.

The current name for this railroad is Pioneer Lines, and they have some of the Algoma Central F9s (I think this includes a B unit), but they F7s which may be from the C&NW are black and gold, painted much like the Southern Railway Es and Fs. The preferred units are the Dipped Red GP10s from Conrail. One engineer told me they are more reliable and haul more. Of course they have an extra 250 horsepower, so I suppose they would haul more.

Tim, Gettysburg & Northern is one of many shortlines owned by Pioneer Railcorp, a publicly traded company. I am a stockholder. When the company first went public, they advertised their stock offering in railfan magazines.
