The banner at the top of the page is pretty, guys -- nice touch! I think you should change the colors of the text in the dark blue bar, though, or else use a different color for the bar. The text gets lost on my monitor.

While I have your attention, how come there's no way to start a new topic from the topics index? Or is there and I just don't see it?

1. Even though I'm not a moderator any longer I think I can answer this one. There is a button you can click named New Topic on the Topics index page. It's immediately above the table listing the topics, on the left.

2. By "text in the blue bar," do you mean "home/articles/briefs etc" in White on Blue up top below the Mogul, or do you mean Topics and so forth in Gold on Blue the bar at the top of the topics chart?

Eric,

As displayed on this PC I see a top field in grey with the "Railway Preservation News" and "Online magazine..." in black. A 2-6-0 is pulling half a boxcar on the left.

Below that is a dark blue bar with links in light blue, "home/articles/etc." "home" is under the boxcar, "articles" under the 2-6-0 etc.

This is a little hard to read because the contrast as displayed on this PC is not so great. When the links are highlighted they display in a gold color.

Upon close inspection, I find "interchange" is there also but in black on dark blue.

This is bizarre. When I returned after writing the previous message, the colors changed.

If somebody did that, thank you.

I like the new format but I might I make one suggestion while I am thinking of it. With the previous set up I could see the dates for the last artcle, brief, and I think flimsie without scrolling down- perhaps this could be the same way?

Thanks!

It will be the same way once we pull Hume's New Year's message off the home page. However, the message will have to stay up for a few more days at least.

That "new topic" button only shows up when I'm viewing a thread. I don't usually use the main topics index, I have a search set up as my main RYPN link that only shows me the threads that are new since my last visit. The "new topic" button isn't present on this search results page -- it would be nice if it was (hint).

Yes, I meant the "home/articles..." bar under the mogul (SRR #89?). When I first looked at it, the text was blue and black, but now it's white and much easier to read.

Ok, good, it was just a cache refresh problem. Glad to hear the white is OK. Yep, it's 89 on a John Craft photo freight charter.

We'll look into adding the New Topic to the "New Since Last Visit" search results page--may take a few days.

I just looked at the "posts since last visit" page and the results of a search page (searched for posts by Erik Ledbetter) and there was a new topic button in each case.

Am I missing something?

The reason you saw the new topic button is because I added it there this afternoon after I saw the request. I probably should have posted here to let you know that it had been taken care of.
