Lots of manufacturer's photos and info on a tiny Plymouth locomotive once used by the Wood River RR in Rhode Island, a subsidiary of the New Haven. The gas-mechanical locomotive is very similar to Strasburg's No. 1.

Mid-Conitinent has one very similar. The original motors block was cracked by water instead of anti-freeze in about 1971 or so. Another climax motor was found in East St. Louis, Ill being scrapped out of a old tug boat {I think} It was remotored in about 1972 with that replacement motor. I realize this isn't steam, but it is really a cool piece of equipment. It takes two men and a boy to push the clutch in and when it runs it sounds like it belongs in the circus parade. Much like an old 2 lung John Deere, except more cool. I think I am about the only one who finds this old goat as historical as any steamer on the property, except maybe the guy who found and replaced the motor. It is the coolest internal combustion machine on the property, with the possible exception of the ancient "Burro Crane". OK, maybe the Montana Western #31 gas/electric too. Thanks for the pictures, John.
