How fare is the SVRy going to go?

How much track is the Sumpter Valley Railway plan to lay down? I keep hearing about extensions of the track but I cant seem to put it all together. So if a SVRy member or someone that knows a lot about the SV please share your knowledge!

Eric,

I'm sure you saw the posted answers at the NGDF , At this time SVRy continues to grow on three fronts, both ends of the mainline, a one and a half mile loop in Sumpter proper with two bridges and the five and one half mile "Union Creek extension" to the east of Mc Ewen.
In addition we are adding new trackage and reconfiguring the Mc Ewen yard adding nearly one mile of yard trackage over the next couple of years as well as two new facilities for maintenance and equipment storage.
Once these projects are completed SVRR intends to rebuild the old "S wye" location along with several sidings .
An ambitious program, but one we feel we can accomplish.

The rebuilt Sumpter Valley is pretty amazing when you think of it. Remote location, far from population centers, no track or equipment present when they started, not much funding, etc.. Yet some 30 years later they continue to grow and improve rather than giving up and going home. To me, that's pretty amazing, given the obstacles they faced.

Jerry,
I just watched a video of the Sumper Valley Railroad which must have been made in about 1990. No mention of the Alco rod engines 19 and 20.

Is there another tape or DVD that is more recent on the history and operations of the Sumpter Narrow Gauge?

It was disappointing there was only one single black and white picture in the whole 30 minuites.

On the plus side, I can't think of any museum that has moved equipment from as far away as they have. Alaska in one direction and Central Amereica in the other!

We have in stock, "Sumpter Valley Ry, The journey" shot two years ago.
It features mainly #19 in regular service and on specials with heisler # 3.
Out later this spring is a tape of mostly historic photos with a narrative sound track. also we still have the # 19 restoration video in stock.
We may also have a new video coming out later this year of just photo train footage.
and of course three older videos featuring the heisler.
