In the nice article in my Trains Magazine, which arrived yesterday, there was a dotted line for "abandoned" trackage of the D&RGW that seemed to cut across Los Pinos meadows and veer off to the north away from Antonito. Any how, it seemed like some of the abandoned sections were more direct than the existing, later line. Did I see that right and if so, when did they relocate the line?

John's not here, but...... The line you are referring to the original toll road across Cumbres. The symbols used in the map for abandoned railroads and the toll road route are rather similar.

With a few very minor re-alignments, the grade over Cumbres is as it was built in 1880.

Thanks, Earl. I was afraid I was losing it--nobody would replace a direct route with a meandering one like the D&RGW did! Need to call the map maker!
