since we're discussing TV, I thought I'd mention the movie on Sundance Channel called "Color of a Bright and Leaping Day" - It is about a young man you tries to save the Yosemite Valley RR right after WWII - it has some wonderful footage of operations inside and outside the cab, facilities, shots inside the shops, nice little model T railcar, etc - also deals with Pacific Electric in the first part where the young man worked as a mechanic b4 taking over the YV. All black and white, very real. costars Artie Johnson (sans tricycle). Supposed to be on again Sunday the 22 at 10. Well worth watching - I'd watch it again if I wasn't forced to be firing for Dave on the Goat.

Movie was filmed at Orange Empire Railway Museum (PE shots) and Sierra for some of the YV. Has some original footage of SP and on the YV. The YV was attempted to be saved by a young man but he was not Chinese. Nice footage of Half Dome and other scenery at Yosemite.
