Yeah, we all know that there's not too many correct 1960s-era equipment is operating condition anymore, and I doubt folks would use it for something like this anyway. That's why as a CW re-enactor, I shied away from RR events. I couldn't deal with a General Lee riding on an RDC!

Can't remember what film it was that had civil war soldiers boarding riveted steel coaches pulled by a relatively modern 4-6-2 to go to war. TVRR has an obviously 1880's 4-4-0 with a steel cab offered for film use as a civil war locomotive. I KNOW Mark Ray knows better............

Legitimate question: who owns the patterns and dies for the Golden Spike replicas, and the right to use them to make further replicas?

Dave, That was a forgettable "Hallmark" movie with time travel involved that was filmed in Staunton, Va with Jack Showalter's equipment. The pacific had a huge phony diamond stack. It was filmed in the mid 90's.

Oh, you see this all the time. A great example of this would be "The Rough Riders," where they're using the TSRR equipment, and they're using heavyweight coaches and USRA-designed locomotives, not bloody likely for 1898!
