Carnival Cruises Acquires Delta King; announces New West Coast "Bluewater" Division

Carnival Cruises is pleased to announce the acquisition of Str Delta King. This acquisition is in response to a careful study of Delaware North's successful operations of the Delta Queen on Mobile Bay. In order to protect potential future expansion on the Sacramento River we are also following the recent strategy of NCL which protected its interests in Hawaii by purchasing the remains of SS Independence and SS United States. Following this strategy, Carnival also successfully bid on the model of Steamboat Grand Rogaton recently offered on Ebay. A company official states: "We don't want any potential competitors out west to get any bright ideas."

Delta King will be carefully branded and operated in conjunction with nostalgic transportation sites at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento and the Western Railway Museum in Rio Vista.
