I know a great many of you don't know him, but one of our own lost his better half yesterday after a couragious battle with cancer. Joe Biondo, better known as "Wabash Joe", is the Director of the Capac Community Historical Museum, one of the finer small museums in our area; his wife Carolyn Lee Biondo was just 58.

Joe and Carolyn's tireless efforts saved the Capac Grand Trunk Western Depot from destruction, and through their work and that of others in this part of the "Thumb", it was restored to house a signficiant collection of local history, as well as the restored "Kempf Model City", one of the most amazing exhibits you'll every see, given its age; it is over 40 feet long and 4 feet wide, and its village, city, waterfront and farm scenes sit inside a complete road and railway all belt-driven. Joe's wife Carolyn of 37 years supported all of his endeavors, and could be seen with him just about anywhere.

Joe has been a railroadiana dealer for many years as well --- if you attended the Port Huron, Dearborn, Ypsilanti, Toledo, St. Charles, or any other major railroadiana show in this part of the Midwest, you've probably seen him. Joe is one of the premier Wabash collectors in the country as well, and has a collection that is absolutely phenomenal from this "fallen flag."

Services are today from 5-8 PM and tomorrow from 2-8 PM at the Kaatz Family Funeral Home of Capac, Michigan. Further information can be found in the information below. Please keep he and Carolyn's Family in your hearts.

Thanks,

T.J. Gaffney
