Are you talking about wrecking derricks (the "big hook"), or locomotive cranes (self-propelled cranes used by the engineering department to move material and pull a few company material cars)? .

Peter
I am talking about wrecking derricks. I should have clarified my question on that. But seeing all the information on all RR cranes has been good too.

There is at least one non-operating steam crane at the Army Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis, VA. I can't find a link for it on their website yet, but I have pictures somewhere.

Hi All
I gather by the replys there are less than 6 operational steam wrecking derricks here in the US.
I want to thank everyone for their input. It is why I like RyPN

The quaint wood-cab steam crane from the Ann Arbor Railroad wreck train at Owosso, Michigan, is now at the steam tractor show grounds and railroad at Buckley, Michigan. I haven't succeeded in getting to see this show since they added a railroad, but I suspect that it is their intention to operate this crane, if they aren't already.

Actually I was just reading about the restoration of FEC derrick on the page fec253.com, actually the crane is operational, but they are making needed repairs to the water storage tanks that leaked.
