The 1880 Train at Hill City, SD has restored ex-Rayonier #110. It made its first revenue run to Keystone on May 17th. This operation is one of the older steam excursion lines and has made a number of improvements since a change in ownership several years ago. In 1972, three bridge washouts shortened the run by 3/4 mile. This spring the line was restored into Keystone and a depot/gift shop was built on the primary road to Mt. Rushmore.

The shop forces believe this is the only compound articulated now active in the US. Is this true? How many other compound locomotives now operate in the US?

Not articulated, but the Manitou & Pikes Peak Railway #4 is an operational compound.
