I would like to point out that Baldwin's last domestic steam locomotive, C&O H-6 2-6-6-2 #1309 was erected in July, 1949 (three months after this writer). She survives in the front yard of the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. Whether she is a Baldwin or a BLH, I shall leave open to discussion, but the outline of a BLH style builder's plate is visible in the appropriate spot on the right side of her smokebox.

Also let's not forget another end of the line survivor, Lima's last steam locomotive NKP S-3 2-8-4 #779 preserved in her home town of Lima.

Too bad the last ALCO steamer a P&LE 2-8-4 was not preserved to the scrap happy NYC.

Does the US Army Transportation Corp qualify as a "domestic" railroad?

Well, let's split the hairs this way:

1. Last engine built for a domestic common carrier, by any builder including railroads: N&W what?
2. Last engine built for a domestic common carrier by a major outside builder (BLW, Alco, etc. I'd include Vulcan in this list)?
3. Last engine built for a domestic CUSTOMER (i.e., USATC)? BLH 610?

I agree with you on that point Mark, but Napa Valley would have to be HO scale vs 12"/foot for Budweiser and Coors!

Speaking of which, does anybody have a BLH steam loco builder's plate? Kurt Bell, I hope you read this, because this is your reminder. Or, at a minimum, a photograph or drawing that would be possible to scale into a repro? We have wanted for some time to make repro's for the 610, but not without knowing what it looked like and the builder's photos we have do not show enough detail.
