The Elizabeth has been moved from it's old location in Philadelphia to Camden. That was a major accomplishment in itself; it was racking up dock fees where it was, and the previous owner wanted it gone. I assume it is now safe for the time being. The salver has joined my Steam Lizards Group on Yahoo, and just yesterday asked for a meeting with Harry Burkhart, who is spearheading the effort to retrieve the steam machinery. He does seem very interested in saving the Elizabeth, and is also entertaining options to have the entire ferry preserved intact.Harry himself has passed along some pictures of the engine room; as well as a picture of the outside of the Elizabeth itself. They can all be found in the Steam Ferry Elizabeth (ex Lakewood) Raising photo album in the Surviving World Steam - Lizards Photo Gallery. Another contributor has passed along some pictures from the attempt to raise the Elizabeth the first time; I may incorporate them into the album as well.So the effort is still on track. The pressure is off a little now; I think that is a good thing since everyone involved now has time to investigate all of the options and gather the funding and resources to make it happen. We also seem to have everyone involved "on board".-James Hefner Hebrews 10:20a Surviving World Steam Project
