Let it not be said that I am not a man of my word. Ticketmaster is now listing the excursions with the sale embargo being lifted at 9AM Pacific Time tomorrow. Significant other and I have just finished a very pleasant conversation with the Seattle Grandparents where we negotiated which trip the common grandchildren are taking them on. GME

It appears that the website has been updated with more equipment info. They will be using mostly bi-level commuter equipment:http://www.gprr.com/ From another board, someone saying he's with this operation confirmed that they have all the required insurance and should be having Amtrak certification soon after arriving in Tacoma. I've also read elsewhere that this operation was going to happen regardless of location, it was either Tacoma or another city.

The following two items are copied verbatim from he Golden Pacific Website:
Quote:
Tacoma, WA. Tall Ships Featuring the Reading 2100 Steam LocomotiveSERVICE JULY 2, 3 and 4, 2005. IS CANCELLEDScheduled times were not available due to Tacoma WA. events changing for this excursion. The following schedules remain in effect
Quote:
NOTE: All information regarding the movement of 2100 has been removed:This action was taken because some (jerk) rail fan decided to park his camper at the museum and "stake out " the locomotive. Then started asking everyone about her scheduled departure. When he didn't get the answers he wanted he started harassing and interfering with the crew working on 2100.Result is that Tom Payne now refuses to provide any information about 2100, or her movement to anyone.
The first item strikes me as a realistic assessment of the timing involved. Fortunately the Grandchildren's tickets were not for Tall Ships. The second strikes me as something which should instead have been handled by either the St Thomas or the Ontario Provincial Police once this person began to interfere. What it will do is significantly reduce a potential mother lode of free publicity and possibly alienate potential customers. The route had already been released on Railroadforums.comhttp://www.railroadforums.com/forum/ ... 11&pp=10as had the shipping dates for the cars so the "news blackout" will probably have little to no effect on the capabilities of the railfan intelligence network in tracking this thing. After all a T-1 and a dozen passenger cars are going to be hard to hide.GMEWith apologies to Winston Churchill: When you speak of the finest traditions of Railroad Promotion do you mean fraud, chicanery, or the Bankruptcy Court?
