I have been looking (for months now) for a single photo of any Pennsy steam locomotives being scrapped. Does anyone have such a photo, or perhaps can refer me to a website were such a photo could be found?

Lionel's old Model Builder Mag had an article obout scrapping steam and there were terrific pictures of PRR steam going to the tourch including a line-up of A-5s.Had to be in the late 40's.

It seared my brain and has been indelible all these too many years.

There were many other moments that are still easy to recall like a visit with my Dad for an IEEE tour of Baldwin in the 1950's with the "Atomic" Cannon,the Jawn Henry and Sharks on the floor of the erecting shops. We get old too soon and smart too late someone once said. And, where was the camera when you needed it. I might have been all of 12 or 13 years old but they are still vivid.

I seem to recall an article in "Trains Magazine" from the 1950's on a scrapyard, Luria Bros. stands out in my memory, that showed scrapping pictures and I want to say a K-4 was the "victim". Perhaps someone with a better collection of "Trains" than I can take this one step further.

Anyone know where the last few locomotives went for destruction after the close of the steam era?

The book "The Pennsy in the Steel City" written by Ken Kobus and Jack Consoli, and published by the PRRTHS, has a pretty good picture of a string of Pennsy T1s lined up awaiting scrapping in Sharpsburg, PA. The picture is good, but the content is heartbreaking. Seth
