Not only that, no more trains or tracks here, either. No more Minneapolis GN union station. Nuttin!The bridge is still there but now it's a paved walking path. Federal reserve bank occupies some of the former GN union station footprint. The bridge is partially defaced when they replaced an arch or two with a truss bridge over lock #1 so that river barges could go upriver a little bit.Still it's one of the most beautiful bridges anywhere.Thanks!

Today, Amtrak uses the ex-Milwaukee Road main up the river from Lacrosse on the west side of the mighty Mississip. Milwaukee main crosses back over to the east (north) bank at Hastings, Minnesota. It passes by the old St. Paul Union Depot (SPUD) and stops at Amtrak's Midway station on the west side of St. Paul. This is still north (east) of the Mississippi.From the Midway station, Amtrak uses ex-GN track all the way to the west coast. The Empire builder doesn't actually cross back over to the west side of the Mississippi until the GN main gets to Little Falls, Minnesota north of St. Cloud.Thanks!
