 Post subject: SP 982 move in Houston

Here is the schedule for the move. 8/23/05 - 6am-6pm Barnhart Crane and Rigging secures area with orange construction barrels and temporary fencing ,lays out mats, assembles gantry and rigging. 8/24/05 - 6am-6pm Load locomotive to Goldhofer and stage in parking lot. Load tender and transport to Avenida de las Americas. Disassemble gantry, and load out mats. 8/25/05 - 6am-6pm Lay out mats at new foundation and assemble gantry. Off load tender (time permitting). 10pm-6am Transport locomotive from Hermann Park to Avenida de las Americas. 8/26/05 - 6am-6pm Complete setting of tender. Position and offload locomotive. Begin disassembling gantry and mats. 8/27/05 - 6am-noon Complete load out of gantry and mats.Route – Golf Course Dr. toMac Gregor to Almeda Rd. South toHolmes Rd. East toI-610 West Service Rd. East to Mykawa Rd. North toGriggs Rd. East toLawndale Ave. West to Wayside Ave. North to Polk Ave. West to Supply Row West to66th St. North to Harrisburg Blvd. East to SSgt. Mercario Garcia Ave. North toNavigation Ave. West to Jensen Dr. South to Commerce St. WestHamilton Ave. South to Capitol Ave. West to Avenida de las Americas

 Post subject: Did they properly prepare the journals?

I think I asked this before, but don't remember the answer, if there was one. Did they properly polish and grease the journals in preparation for the move?

Bob,I have been working very closely with Barnhart Crane & Rigging. I just got back from the new location. The engine and tender made the trip without any problems. Both were on trailers. We did regrease the tender journals and let them roll the tender. The engine journals did not get repolished so I did not let the engine be rolled.Greg
