All the news about hurricanes reminded me of a story that was in Trains magazine just after Andrew tore through FL in '92. One of the members of the museum rode out the storm in the business car. I was down there and visited the museum site about six months after the storm, when the local authorities still had some sections closed or with limited access. I talked with the guy. He was a member/caretaker and he, his wife, and puppy rode out Andrew hunkered down in the armor plated Magellan. When I was there 'regular' heavyweight cars had been rolled on their sides, seems a wood caboose had been picked up and tossed and it was a total loss, structure damage, a real mess.What a 'ride' that must have been in the Magellan! Ever since seeing that I have had a lot of respect for any hurricane and cannot understand tv scenes of beach bums staying behind to catch some good waves on their surfboards!Bob Kutella
