yeah, steamlocomotive.com is the best place to start.A Baldwin "Sequoia" type 2-6-2 is owned by the Feather River Short Line and currently stored out of service in Virginia City on the Virginia and Truckee RR. This is former Hobart Southern/Clover Valley 8, Baldwin b/n 32160.

Railstar's ex-Kahului #12 is indeed a Baldwin (1928).The former Sierra Railway #30 (converted to a 2-6-2T by the Howard Terminal of Oakland) survives in the ownership of the Pacific Locomotive Association. The first locomotive acquired by the PLA to operate on their Castro Point Railway and currently stored at Brightside Yard. folks,You are going at this the wrong way to answer the question. There is an appendix in the back of J.David Conrad's book which lists surviving engines by wheel type.I do not have my copy handy at the moment. But somebody does!The Robert Dollar 3 is being re-built by the Pacific Locomotive Association. She is a 2-6-2T. Thaey just had a bunch of missing parts made by the Strasburg Shops. Ted Miles

The ex-Robert Dollar #3, as well as the ex-Quincy #2 (operating this Sunday in Sunol for the last time this season...catch it while you can), are both ALCO products (1924 and 1927, respectively, I believe). Talk about locomotives with character. The SRC Mechanical Dept. is responsible for the rebuilt pilot truck on the #2, as well as the valve gear on the #3...I saw both for the first time about a month ago and it's beautiful work. Its my understanding the originals still exists in crates at Rio Vista Junction; not included in the sale (I believe it was a sale) to the PLA.In its existence, the PLA has owned four 2-6-2s, all of which are (or were) tank prairies!Photo by Brian Wise

Wanamaker Kempton & Southern Steam Railroad in Kempton, Pa. had a 2-6-2 #250 back in the 1960`s , but not sure where she is today.Len.

I saw the 250 up at Edaville at the beginning of this year, where it was moved in the past few years for display and given a fresh coat of paint.Many years ago, there was interest in possibly acquiring this locomotive for use on the Big Trees & Pacific to haul trains from Felton (Roaring Camp) to Santa Cruz, CA. (this was when Roaring Camp acquired all of its coaches (the wooden ones, ex-Boston & Maine and two steel Jersey Central cars) from the Wolfeboro, where the 250 last ran I believe in the early '80s.) Like the plans with the 2706 and 1298 after it...it never happened.
