It's a neat little critter.ET&WNC's last narrow gauge engine was #14 (which eventually went to the WP&Y during WW2). They kept #15 open for a steam engine they hope to someday run in the gorge for good. So this is why #16 for this critter...I went up there with my nephew back in August when we were there. They'll take up the gorge if you ask them ahead of time and they have the time to do so. They offered to take us in this engine, but I opted for the speeder instead as I'd get better video, it's cooler, and you can go further up the gorge in it.For anyone anywhere nearby at any point, I can't recommend this place enough. It's incredible!BTW, it's also a Christian camp that runs the place, and I'd suggest a donation to the group for a ride. That's what I did afterwards, even though they don't ask for any coin...

Since that photo was taken, couplers have been added (they were only missing for one day, so that is an unusual photo!), an ex-Amtrak air operated bell was added over the coupler in front of the radiator, and a whistle was added on the cab roof next to the Nathan P-3 horns. The grey plank leaning against the open car is the cab seat, which was in the process of being installed. I believe the next day we coupled up to the cars and took the first test train up the gorge. After a few teething troubles, she has been running daily in the summer ever since. Yes, Chris, there is. Steve, Mark, and I have been restoring a 5-ton Plymouth near Crestline. We have replaced the original very low cab (made even lower by having buldozer parts dumped on it!) with a large wide cab, and have added a walkway on each side. We have had it operating to test it, and it is now ready for final reassembly and welding the cab. Unfortunately, Steve is working 60+ hour weeks, and it has been impossible to find time to get together to finish the work for the last 18 months. Wanna help?!
