I know you don't plan to be to 218 till 2013 but I'm just curious. I love this museum. This is Eric from Pine Creek. I got my drivers license and a car so I will more then likely be up for the track meet. Can people stay over at the railroad for that?

Hi Eric,Clearly some members would!!!! (Grin)Seriously, the museum wishes to keep all its options open. One area of concern is the cost of establishing a fully signalled road crossing at Rt. 218 and any attendant regulatory and insurance considerations that such a crossing would raise. There would also have to be a second road crossing in Head Tide about a half mile further up the line. Head Tide station was located several hundred yards north of this crossing. The intervening landowner would have to permit the museum to reestablish its grade across his land.Too many "ifs" that are too far in the future to accurately predict any specific outcomes. This is why the official answer to your question has to be a definite "maybe".But, knowing the WW&F volunteers and their manifest intentions to be good neighbors to their abutters and an asset to their community, I would not take odds against that happening.PS - Check out the WW&F's long range plan at the URL below.http://www.wwfry.org/longrangeplan.pdf

Yes, the photo was taken where the roadbed runs along the Sheepscot River, north of where it crosses Rt 218. The roadbed has been cleared of brush and small trees for the full extent that we own - from halfway down "the Mountain" to halfway through Head Tide cut.However, don't let those crossing bells ring in your head yet. Glenn's correct - the full extent of regulation, insurance, etc will have to be determined and weighed before we go across Rt 218.Officially, we have about 10 years before we have to worry about it. Unofficially? Maybe less.
