In looking over recent posts I notice that the two SP Pacifics will soon be together at Hunters Point. Here in North Vancouver we have two CPR Hudsons in the same shop (at least for a little while longer). This got me to wondering if this has happened anywhere else.

The Minnesota Transportation Museum now owns two Northern Pacific Q-3 Pacifics, nos. 2156 and 2153. 2156 has recently been moved indoors at the Jackson Street Roundhouse to begin restoration, while 2153 (last I heard) is still in the park in East Grand Forks, MN. They're planning to move 2153 to Jackson Street in the near future, and both engines are to be restored to steam.

In the 1980's, former Southern Railroad Consolidations 630 and 722 were both maintained in TVRM's East Chattanooga Shop and often double headed.

Hmmm...

You had the two FEC 4-6-2's together in Florida... was that at Gold Coast?

How about the 3 opertational CPR 4-6-2 G-5's that once called Steamtown home?

And the two G-5's Jack Showalter ran...

In other wheel arrangements, the last 4 Reading T-1's have visited with each other post-RDG, but never with more than one under steam.

We're avoiding the obvious D&RGW and EBT engines, I assume...

Have the PM and NKP berks met in post 1950's operation?

Neat thread,

Rob

While not at a museum or a railroad, how about the two narrow gauge Consolidations at Knott's Berry Farm.

One of the best weeks in a young railfan's life occured too many years ago to admit. The family visited Knott's one day when relatives were in town. One of the 2-8-0's was in service on the train and the other one was hot, under steam outside the engine house. Then within days we were on the way to Nebraska for ourselves to see relatives. The trip was through Colorado and my mon laid out the route through Durango, Ridgeway, Salida, Leadville, and Denver that I had no complaints about. In Golden, I was left off for several hours at Colorado RR Museum. And lo and behold -- the 346 was under steam. All three of these sister engines under steam in less than a week!

Well, I'll admit. That was about 35 years ago.

The 1991 NRHS convention had PM 1225 and NKP 765 together, steaming side by side. The 1984 New Orleans Worlds Fair had 4449 and 844 both 4-8-4s together. In a couple years at TVRM you will have 610 and 630, both 2-8-0s togehter. Of course, in Portland the 700 and the 4449 share roundhouse space, so they are together for a lot. The US Army's 2-8-0s were together until the 1970s.
