The locomotive and coaches that were found in the Washington wilderness (see todays briefs) was used in the movie "Ring of Fire", one of those movies that followed a popular song by, in this case, Johnny Cash. The loco and coaches were purchased for the film and a museum tender was borrowed. Since the tender needed to be saved, a bulldozer was used to tow it off the wreck while the rest of the train was sacrificed. Gas line were attached to the bridge to simulate a raging forest fire. Several key beams were cut through in the old bridge, and Caterpillars were used to snap the supports, bringing down the works. Score one one more for the Diesels! The bridge was on an old logging line that was being abandoned.
As I recollect, when the locomotive fell, the saddle tank on it's boiler was ripped free. Is there anyway to recover or salvage parts from the locomotive? Is it even worth thinking about?

Wow! I saw that movie in a theatre when I was a kid. Remembered the scene on the bridge, but somehow assumed it was a model shot. I think that "Fugitive" David Jansen was in the leading role. I also recall two Harriman-type coaches...?
