This from the IRM Yahoo group:

A great deal of the original woodworking equipment from the IT Decatur shops is alive and well. The llinois Traction Historical Society was able to view it on an April 2005 tour, and Larry has posted some interesting pictures.

Excerpt:

Okay, for all of those who requested, I've downloaded to ImageShack and here are the links...

Planer (note the big vaccuum hood. Duane said that he ran without once and it threw saw dust clear across the room!):

Not only was the tour of his shop fascinating, the history was very interesting. Duane had learned to operate the equipment when he worked at a Decatur lumber yard. When the lumber yard went out of business he had the opertunity to purchase the equipment and set up his own wood working shop.
Did you notice the numbers on the Die Cutter? Duane had always wondered about the numbers on the equipment and that led him to inquire with Dale Jenkins of the Illinois Traction Historical Society who identified the machines from IT rosters that listed them as being sold for scrap in 1955! Had Duane not made the call, neither he nor any of the IT historical members would have been aware of their significance.

Nice stuff, and nice to see it together and set up and working. Gotta love all those open drives!!!! Hope the OSHA man doesn't visit.

So, with all this neat stuff, when do they start building interurban carbodies? Any chance of contract work, building subassemblies for some of the midwestern traction museums?
