I just got a copy of History of the JG Brill Company by Debra Brill. Published by Indiana University Press in 2001.

Here is a company history that anyone interested in traction should read! It is a big book on heavy glossy paper that is full of photos. The author started out not knowing anything about her family business that closed before she was born; but the long list of museums and people she talked shows that she did go where the infor-mation was. Some pages have as many as four photos, lots of ads from the Company magazine and the Street Railway Journal.

I wish that others would do the same for the many
car builders that once existed. Is anybody researching the Niles Car Company for example?

Almost every traction museum in the country has something from this builder in their collection.
Another good reason to go visiting!

A good book on Niles wa published in 1958 by the Electric Railway Historical Society as bulletin 29. I have a copy, but don't know how many others are still in existance.
