Given the nature of the intended and scope of the repairs-I wonder how the FYI has managed to proceed without employing the services of a professional engineering consultant such as Klauder, STV, etc.

In other words, if a public authority such as the MBTA was renovating the train-they wouldn't DREAM of proceeding without a detailed spec that satisfied the alphabet soup of regulatory bodies such as AAR,FRA,NFPA,etc.

For example, nothing goes into a passenger railcar without being flame tested-just like an aircraft.

Yet another issue is structural integrity of the stainless steel carbody-which need the attention of a PE for analysis and design of any repairs.

The notice for the first annual Flying Yankee Gala now mentions the auction of "a number of original and extremely rare Flying Yankee components". Does anyone have any details on which components of the train these might be? See this link, several paragraphs down on the page:
