I'd guess Reading after conversion, or Eddystone when she went down there for a weigh in.

Sure looks like it could be. In either case, I am 99.9% sure it was taken behind the Reading Shops.

Speaking of the Reading T-1's, MODEL RAILROADER had a review of a new model of the 4-8-4's and said that the last 20 or so (I don't recall the exact number quoted) used boilers off of Reading's 2-8-0's. I thought that ALL 30 T-1's had boilers off of the old Consolidations. Am I wrong on this?

The T1 class were all built in Reading with many components supplied by Baldwin. The 2100 was run down to Eddystone to be looked over by Baldwin, weighed, and photographed. Builders photos of her in Reading and Eddystone are probably around. According to everything I have read all of the T1 locomotives were built using boilers from I-10SA consolidations that were rated at 71,000 lbs tractive effort. Those girls were real pullers!

Somewhere around here I have a paperback book titled "Reading T-1 of the Iron Horse Rambles" and it gives a blow by blow history of the T-1 class. I think this book even includes which 2-8-0 was donor for each of the T-1s. I have been looking for it since I saw the thread start and have not found it as of yet. 10 years and a couple of hundred books ago I would have found it in a few minutes.

Actually the books is called "Iron Horse Rambles and the Reading T-1's". It was published in the 1960's and is really hard to find.

If you do ever find the book, I'd be interested in a listing of the number of the I10 2-8-0 and the corresponding T-1 4-8-4 it evolved into. I don't expect a listing of all 30 T-1's (although that would be nice) but at least of the 4 surviving Northerns. Also, what year the original I10's were built.

I only have two of the numbers.

2100 boiler from 2045
2124 boiler from 2024

2101 was from 2037

I still can't find the book and it's driving me nuts.
