A programming note for readers in southern California: The PBS program Restoration Stories will air this Sunday night (March 26th) at 9pm on KLCS, Los Angeles, CA.

RyPN readers should enjoy the opening 18-minute story which focuses on the rebirth of the Wiscasset, Waterville & Farmington Ry in Maine -- but we hope you will like the rest of the program too!

Our PBS station WHYY, is in love with themselves to the point that if they do not produce it they don't want it. They have no railroad shows anymore. And they wonder why I stopped supporting them.

Later!

Dear Mr. Ed.

Both WHYY and WYBE, Philadelphia appear on our list of over 200 PBS stations which "voted" YES to
Restoration Stories.

This usually means they have received the program and are planning to air it at some point in time.

While PBS discourages us (the producers) from calling and begging for airplay, they WELCOME viewer response, so please feel free to write or call and ask about the program!

Thanks!

Thanks for the note. I'll look at WHYYs listing and see what time they are planning on running it. I suspect it will be early in the morning.

Later!

Better yet, write to them and tell them you've heard about a program called "Restoration Stories," and that you've heard good things about it. Ask them if they've heard about it and if so, when are they going to run it. Don't admit you know they have it and are sitting on it ;-)

If they hear from a few people, maybe they'll run it at some time other than 2 am.

Thank you, John.

Calling or writing (email is fine) is THE BEST way to have an affect on scheduling. Another point worth noting is that programs only begin to appear on a station's website 2 weeks prior to an airing.

With regard to timeslots, Restoration Stories has been extremely well received as programmers have been playing it mostly in primetime, and many times back to back with Antiques Roadshow -- just like tonight in Los Angeles.

So please keep those requests coming, it might just help us make more Restoration Stories programs.

Thanks!

OK. I sent an e-mail to WHYY asking if they had the show. They responded that it isn't scheduled to run. Big surprise! As I stated before, this station is so in love with itself that I am surprised it still gets enough supporters to stay on the air. And WYBE is not on my primary dish nor is the NJN. Maybe I should call Dish and get the other dish installed.

Later!

Dear Mr. Ed,
Thank you for taking the time to write to them on our behalf! Although the answer was not what you had hoped, it does send the message to them that there is interest in this program.

KUHT in Houston is now scheduled to run the show after MANY months of inquiries, so anything is possible!

Thanks again!

This is why I gave up on PBS. WYBE hasn't scheduled it either. And I told them that opportunity is knocking since WHYY isn't airing it. Maybe NJN will take a crack at it. Maybe it should have been a British show. WHYY loves British shows!

Later!
