At the Grapevine RR in Texas, just a few days ago. I thought the asbestos was removed some years ago when it was threatened with scrapping in Victoria..

I saw her while on display in Victoria. She looked good then and seems to be looking fairly good now. If you have an unused locomotive trackside for display, this is the way to keep it looking . I would love to see her rebuilt for operation.

Boy Scouts painted her a few months ago. As far as operation goes,I'm dying to do a hydro and ultrasound on her to see if the rumors of a wasted boiler shell and firebox are true. stay tuned......

Ok isnt the 771 and 745 sister engines?

I was noticing the 771 has 2 injectors up on each side of the boiler (leslie?).
The 745 only has one injector and its a non-lifting injector mounted under the cab on the fireman's side.

Also, I was looking through this photo album and that little 2-4-4 in the shed is interesting? Where did that come from, Astroworld?

The 771,745,786 and 794 are all sister engines. All except 771 is currently equipped with SA feedwater heaters with a mix of lifting and non lifting injectors. I believe the 771 has Nathan #11 lifting injectors. Current speculation is that 771 spent much of her later years in heavy switching service,hence the removal or noninstallation of her feedwater heater.
The little engine in the Grapevine engine house got there before I did, so I'm not exactly sure where it came from. There was some mention about it a few months ago either here or on Trainorders. i'll do a little asking and find out about it.

The 2-4-4T is "Rachel," last operated on the Doe River Gorge RR in Tennessee. Came from the Opryland RR in Nashville, I believe. What a sweet little lokie.
