A wrecked train in a railroad museum can be a good display. A train station is not the place, just as brother Mitchell mentioned you would not display chunks of a crashed plane in the lobby of a major airport. Chunks of a crashed plane in a museum among aircraft explaining some major change in technology that improved safety would be much better. It's all in the context.

I would also like to remind everyone that while the ideas may seem unplausible in one environment, they may help serve as the basis for an idea that would be feasible in a different context.

Also, NS has at least one car semi-permanently parked in WUS (with attached plumbing) that they use to entertain guests. It is former Central of Georgia Marco Polo, presently painted Pullman Green and lettered Pullman (the only NS business car to be so painted)

This dispels, in part, the arguments that trackspace can’t be devoted to a display and that museum (or museum age) rolling stock would be unwanted. Do you think that NS could be interested in a GG-1 (not necessarily the 4859) to accompany their car?

In December I visited Washington Union Station with our grandchildren. Using the side entrance for MARC commuter train passengers, I took the kids just outside the door to stand on the platform to see the trains. Within a short (immediate) period of time we were cordially invited to return inside the station.

Like Chicago Union Station, and Penn Station in New York, Washingto's Union Station platform is an extremely busy and crowded space. The presence of NS Marco Polo aside, I don't see this location as a viable option for a static display.

It is in fact a central of georgia car. However, it was, while with the c of g, called the Savannah. It was not until sometime after the southern bought the c of g that it was renamed the marco polo. Something about it having been used by one president (or candidate for same)or another comes to mind.
