Does anyone know what happened to the Ross Grenard photo collection? He was an active photographer in the 1940s-50s around the Denver area. Last I heard, he was in a home in PA, and his collection was possibly being broken up. Would be good to see it in a library and available on the internet like the Otto Perry collection.

Ross lived in Loch Haven, PA until a stroke rendered him completely unconscious. I believe he lived in a nursing home in Williamsport, PA where he ultimately died.

Ross was indeed a marvelous photographer, a good writer, and an excellent story teller. He and I became friends in the late 70's, and remained such until his stroke. I learned what had happened from Jim Boyd back in 96. He was still alive at that time, but unable to recognize anyone or communicate with them. I had to pass through the area and had hoped to see him. I shall always treasure the memory of the good times we had together.

As for his collection, it ought to be preserved somewhere, preferably in the Denver area which was the home the Rio Grande, and through which his other favorite, the Union Pacific also passed. If anyone would want to take on the project, I would contact Jim Boyd if possible. He knew Ross in his last years better than anyone else in the railfan community.
