Ex-CN 0-6-0 #7470 was fired up today after a lenghty overhaul of several boiler componants. The locomotive steamed well and scared several people many times during the day when the saftey valve lifted with a thunderous roar. Some small problems were found with electrical and also the air pump wasn't operating well, but the bugs were worked out and the locomotive made a nice test run up the hill east of North Conway Depot.
Tommorow, more adjustments will be made and more testing before she gets back to work hauling tourists.
So many people came together to make this happen I can't name them all, but CSRR management was committed to the steamer and we kept egging them on. Thanks go to CSRR employees, and crews from Boothbay Railway Village (Brian and Justin), Employees of the Cog Railway and so many others that I've met but can't recall their names. Thanks!

I was at the Conway Scenic RR when their rebuilt Locomotive took her first trip out onto the turntable. We had gone to NH to ride several Railroads. We stayed in Lincoln, NH and rode the Hobo RR. Went to Mt. Washington to ride the Cog RR. Finally on Tuesday we were in North Conway to ride the Conway Scenic....
We were returning from the excursion when my estute Railfain son said "Dad the steam engine is fired up and the light is in in the roundhouse"... I thought he was fooling with me, but low and behold there is was.
We watched it steam out onto the table and then make some runs on the Hill.
I want to congratulate all those who made that possible!! It was a sight to behold. The crew were very excited and rightly so. One crew member told the crowd that it had been 4 years since it had run and this was her first trip out.
It put the icing on the cake of our vacation. Thanks again!!

I made it up to Conway Scenic this weekend with some friends and regrettably missed CNR No. 7470 by two days-ugh! She looks great. Also rode behind the Climax at Clark's and got a chuckle out of the Wolf Man skit. Classic tourist railroading at it's best!

I often wonder what Hobo RR would have been like had they put ex-Wolfeboro No. 250 back into service there. They need some steam.

Saw four engines under steam at the Mt. Washington Cog RR (or as the locals call it, the "cag").

I know where I'm mvoing when I retire someday--the beauty of New Hampshire is unsurpassed :-)

Anyone know what scheme the #1055 is being repainted in? Would be nice if it was the PT black and yellow from the 70's.

We should have had an RYPN convention! I was in North Conway on Sunday hoping for some smoke! Just a bit early, I guess.

Was dissapointed as I *saw* the Climax at Clarks under steam, new boiler and all, on Sunday but when we went to ride Monday morning the dismal was on the ready track. Oh well.

Rob, you were in Conway, only a few miles from the Maine border! When are you going to head over to Wiscasset and visit the WW&F??? There was plenty of steam Friday, Saturday and Sunday...
