Train and Labor Song Alert: OCMS

Continuing the on and off topic of railroad songs, the new Old Crow Medicine Show disc Big Iron World features labor (Union Maid), canal/rail (James River Blues) and bawdy train songs (New Virginia Creeper).

Of course, in keeping with the Old Crow vibe, the later song goes sumtin' like "I'll ride you in my sleeper, I'm the new Virginia Creeper tonight."

Maybe Amtrak should have used that to market the Virgina service rather than look to cut it? :-)

If you like that genre, and have not already found them, seek out the Asylum Street Spankers from Austin. A bit more out there, two parts music to one part stage show, and some of it is not for the kids.
