Anyone got a list of the still surviving ORIGINAL wooden railroad water tanks and their locations? The one at Frenchville, Maine is neat. Who did the restoration?

I seem to recall a nicely restored one near the Onawa trestle on Maine, but I can't find the pictures online I saw some time back.

I believe that the WW&F Museum is in the process of building a replica of the
WW&F's Headtide watertank.

What I wonder though is how did they keep the water from freezing solid is North Country water tanks?

Did they use engine steam to melt it?

Generally, they are a tank inside a tank. The air space and regular usage keeps it liquid. There was a movie or a book about a kid that lived in the airpace of a water tank on top of a building in a city.
